Delivery Driver position

 in our newly established commercial catering provision, could be for you!

Salary: Pay Scale: 2, Point 4 (£13.05 per hour). Hours: 10 hours per week (11:00am to 1:00pm) in the first instance, rising as our business expands over the next 12 months. Regular Overtime opportunities also available.

Contract: Permanent part time contract, working term time only plus overtime during school holidays.

Required by Monday 3rd March 2026 or as soon as possible.

Cross Lane Primary School is looking for a highly-motivated, enthusiastic and experienced driver to join our ambitious team. In this role, you will support School Leaders by being responsible for the safe, timely transportation of school food from our production kitchen at Cross Lane to various school sites. The role often combines driving with manual handling and, in some cases, basic kitchen assistance

  • holds a clean full driving licence for a minimum of 10 years.

The main objectives of the role:

  • to be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of school meals to other Calderdale primary schools, as part of our commercial catering operation;
  • to be responsible for the safe loading and unloading of insulated boxes between Cross Lane and receiving schools;
  • to ensure hot and cold items are stored according to temperature regulations and HACCP principles to maintain food hygiene and standards;
  • to be responsible for conducting daily safety/condition checks on the vehicle and equipment, recording data and reporting any issues to the Catering Services Manager;
  • to be responsible for maintaining a clean and tidy vehicle;
  • to be aware of, and comply with, policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, manual handling, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to the appropriate person;
  • to act as a professional ambassador for our catering service and actively promote the positive values and ethos of our school;
  • to show commitment to equal opportunities and promote non-discriminatory practice in all work aspects;
  • to carry out any reasonable duties as requested by the Headteacher, School Business Manager and Catering Manager:
